Support Resources for Families with Children of Color In the LA Area
Adoptive Families with Children of Color Group -
Los Angeles Area
Pact has been approached by many LA area families who are hoping for more community and more educational support for themselves and their children-the kind Pact provides at their yearly Family Camp- year round. In 2011 Pact will be offering programming with the hope of creating a vibrant community of adoptive families of children of color that will last for many years beyond. To thrive adopted children need to see families who look like them and have adoptive parents who are delving into the complexity of adoption and race with honesty & support.
Online Resources:
Chat on-line with families in the LA Area. Share information, advice and discussion as well as resources in the area with other adoptive families in the LA area.

Discussion Groups:
Quarterly discussion groups with Beth Hall, Pact's Director and guest speakers including adult adoptees and birth parents, are being offered throughout 2011 to talk about issues related to parenting adopted children of color. These gatherings are hosted by Pact member families in their homes and are open to all Pact members as well as pre-adoptive families working with Pact. Children and youth are invited to attend and childcare will be provided for younger children, youth 10 and older are invited to participate in outings with adult adoptees that are offering their time to serve as mentors and chaperones.

Family Outings:
Play groups and outings give an opportunity for adoptive parents to get together in an informal environment and build community. These occasional gatherings are promoted by Pact to all member families in the area who can chose to attend as a way to promote connection and community in the greater Los Angeles area.
